VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We love our volunteers, especially our long-stay visitors who receive room and board in the old Schoolhouse in exchange for 4-6 hours of time each day..

     

ORGANIC FARMING

It is our goal to operate a pesticide-free, organic food-growing eco-farm. We do use electricity (solar planned for the future) and limited gas-powered equipment when necessary.

EDUCATION

Learn principles of permaculture, organic eco-farming, business, human-relations, and finances in a fun and educational environment.

With so much ill health and an overweight population growing in the world, it is nice to be able to get back to the way nature wanted us to eat, grow, and live. We try to replace the “fake stuff” in our diets with natural food grown with our bare hands.

Brasstown Eco-Farm

Brasstown Eco-Farm & Education Center is a six-acre working farm located in the southwest corner of North Carolina in the United States, less than five miles from the Georgia border and close to Tennessee. The area is beautiful and boasts wonderful climate and a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, biking, kayaking, white-water rafting and even is close to one of the top motorcycle destinations in the United States. Within 3 miles is the John C. Campbell Folk School, where people come from far away to learn old-style techniques of weaving, blacksmithing, candle-making, and other crafts. Our farm is in a quiet town called Brasstown and with a schoolhouse that was the main school for children from grades 1 to 8 until 1974. We are now renovating it in order to preserve the history of the property, while giving it a more modern twist. The Schoolhouse was purchased in 2013 and is slowly being transformed into a quaint eco-farm and education center, while keeping a connection with the land.
